H. 'Captain Kirk'

This came to us labelled as 'Catherine', another 'Halcyon' sport, and another Costco 2010 acquisition. There are hints of the medio variegation, as you can see in these 2 shots below from their first season, but as they grew on, the leaves seemed to be too rounded for a 'Halcyon' sport, and the shade of blue is not of that family, so we have yet another case of mislabeling on our hands.... Oh well....

Hosta 'Catherine'We're now into early May 2011, and just for fun I thought I'd put a 'Catherine' beside a 'June' -though that one was supposed to be 'Touch of Class'- and look at the differences: leaf shape and colour of blue, as well as the corrugation present in 'Catherine' and absent in 'June'.

I'm starting to think that what I have here is 'Captain Kirk', a 'Gold Standard' sport.

Hosta 'Captain Kirk'All four plants were up-potted into a 2-gallon nursery pot in 2011 and they all came back up in 2012 with more shoots than the year before. This one here has three, a couple others have four. They all looked quite nice by the time our spring sales rolled around, I thought, but there were no takers....
