January 2004

The New Year brought us what the kids would have liked over Christmas: SNOW. (In fact it started to snow December 30th). It has stuck around too and before this round of white stuff is over and done with, we'll have plenty more of it. As I'm writing this in the evening of January 5th, 2004 the forecast for tomorrow is plenty-o-snow: anywhere from 10 to 30 cm, depending on Helleborus Atrorubens where you actually are. It'll make for a fun commute tomorrow, particularly on the way home. Yet with the temperature below freezing and a lot of snow still covering the ground and the planters and beds it is nice to be able to see just a spec of colour, such as these red Helleborus hybrid buds.

The picture was shot on January 3rd and yes, that white patch in the background is snow:) Matter of fact, if you look closely at the picture you will notice traces of corn snow on top of the frozen ground.
