H. 'Ghost Spirit'

From what I see in the pictures of this cultivar on the Hosta Library, this is quite a variable variety. Even on this small division you can see that. Time will tell what it will settle out to. This one came to me as part of a 'Secret Trade' from Port Hope, ON, thanks again, Vanessa.

We're now into late April 2011, and it's been interesting to see it emerge and unfurl after its first winter here. The green margin now appears quite narrow on all the leaves showing on the first 4 shoots up this spring. It'll be interesting to see how the leaves 'mist' up as the season unfolds.

By mid-May it has grown quite nicely and you can see a hint of the first 'ghosting'.

By mid-August there is a fair bit of misting, as well as greening up, if you can call it that. There is speculation that greening up on this cultivar, and others such as 'Whirlwind' for example, is done in response to stress.
